Wall girls run away from Sonora in 4-3A action

WALL — The Wall High School girls defense suffocated Sonora as the Lady Hawks improved to 2-0 in District 4-3A play with an 87-17 win over the Lady Broncos here Tuesday.

Sam Rocha led the Lady Hawks (17-5 overall) with 21 points while Landry Oliver scored 20.

Wall is ranked No. 5 in the latest Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 3A state rankings.

Wall held Sonora scoreless until the 3:05 mark of the first quarter when Audrey Nolen got Sonora on the board with a 3-pointer.

The Lady Hawks had a 51-5 halftime lead.

Sonora fell to 0-2 in league play.

Wall travels to Ballinger on Friday, Jan. 12.
